A Creation of Man

My mother told me today,

Don’t give up. It’s only a creation of man.

in reference to a Fujitsu I’m currently attempting to fix.

Pretty good advice, methinks.

Progress

Today was… an eventful day.

It all started out around 11:00am-ish – I was about ready to surprise call Liz to go to a concert in San Francisco hosted by Radio Alice – a radio station (FM 97.3) local to the Bay Area. It was a free concert held at Golden Gate Park named “Alice’s Summerthing” – which I’m supposing is an annual thing held at the beginning of summer – as today is the day after solstice . The lineup for the bands are as follows: Secondhand Serenade, Marie Digby, The Last Goodnight, Ingrid Michaelson, and Lifehouse.

I waited until the afternoon in case she did go to church and such and was spending time with family. When I called her around 12:30pm, she was stuck at home cleaning. It was OK, I suppose. The only real band I wanted to see at the concert was Lifehouse. Perhaps next time. Lesson for next time: Surprises are cool and all, but first make sure she’s free.

So instead, I chatted with Gary for a while and found out that Deoxys was being given away at participating Gamestops. Wanting to simply not spend the day inside, I went along. I had to retrieve my wallet from Liz, seeing as how I left it in her purse at the marina hangout. So I drove to her house, illegally, and found no parking spaces available. So I doubled back and parked a block away. I went to her house and saw Mr. James without his beard. He looked quite awesome with his beard though, but that could just be because I fail at facial hair in general; my hair grows awfully slow.

So I retrieved my wallet and was away. I waited for a rather long time outside of Gary’s house, noting the apparent difference between everyone else’s version of “I’ll be right out” with Gary’s version of “I’ll be right out” – yes, I realize you said “We’ll be right out”. I drove Gary and Richard to the Gamestop.

It was rather interesting, it was. When we arrived, we went straight to the Wii and played Brawl. However, I found some time to carouse through the collection of PC Games, not really wanting to buy anything but simply browsing. Gary opened his DS Lite to find a mystery gift. Lo and behold, it was Deoxys. Richard made similar movements and he too recieved his Deoxys. They were happy. So after which we decided to eat healthily, or as close to it as possible. We went to Subway and ordered some $5.00 foot-longs. It was rather filling. I had the prime rib. Yeah, not very healthy.

After Subway, we all went over to Gary’s house to play a little bit of Guitar Hero. I could only really stay for one song because I found that Liz found some time. So I played the song, rather horribly I might add, and went drove to Liz’s house.

When I approached her home, I realized there was no parking again. I had to double back and pick her up very awkwardly… That was total fail-get… Oh well. We went to go get some food from Marina Square and chilled out for a long while. I quite enjoy simply being with her and listening to what she has to say. It’s rather odd, I tell ya – this feeling.

We actually were driving about Doolittle, for the hell of it no less, and I decided to take in the Industrial District. We found a nice little park thing – adjacent to, what looked like, the Waste Management trash and recycle container storage. We walked for a good while through Oyster something. I forget the name. At a point it held a good view of the Airport and I saw a plane or two. We walked for quite a while, and I feared I wouldn’t get her home on time – as I rarely do… Oh well, it was a nice adventure. She ate the food as we were driving and made an amazing water-bottle-drink while moving and going to a quick stop maneuver. Twas epic, I say. We chilled for a bit more and I drove her back home.

I saw a road bike as I was driving back for sale. I went to the garage sale only to find that it was too small for me, not to mention it was a women’s style bike which meant a shorter frame and not a straight, but rather slanted, bar. Alas, one day I shall get a road bike…

I went to Chopsticks to get some Chinese fast food, or rather imitation Chinese fast food. I’m sure the real thing would be so much better… Healthier too, perhaps. I went home and gulfed it all down. Now, consider that I got home around 7:30pm-ish and ate my food, I started feeling guilty around 8:00pm.

I went over to the Marina and jogged for a good 3/4 of a mile before I started to feel fatigued. I feel rather sad – and I’ve come to realize that the whole out of shape thing is really a big ego-hit. If I was 165 lbs, as I was during the summer and early year, I would have ran circles around that darned mile loop. Freaking circles I say! Sadly, I’ve gained about 10 lbs by Christmas, and since I’ve gotten a car an extra 5 lbs. Yes, that is indeed 180 lbs – 15 lbs more than the beginning of the year. Senior fifteen is what they should call it, not freshman fifteen…

Now, it’s not really the appearance thing, for I don’t think I’ve changed looks too much, and clothes still fit well, and perhaps some of those pounds came from growing a little bit during that year, but I seriously feel bad for not being able to run circles around the Marina loop. It’s… antagonizing is what it is… So I’ve pretty much decided to jog every morning – around 6:00am-ish for a good three weeks to try and get a hold of the situation. It gives me something to do before robotics and forces me to bathe regularly or more often – depending on the week.

I’m pretty dedicated this time for some reason. I’m pretty sure a lot of it is the whole setting up a spreadsheet for my health plans. Yes, I know, a bit crazy, eh?

Bleh, tangent there. Technically a secant since it will eventually come back to the function. A tangent touches the function, in this case the main purpose of the blog post, and goes on forever, never really going back to the main purpose of the post. However, if it’s a secant, it goes back to the curve, or rather, to the point of the post. In this case, it isnt really a secant since I deviated twice. Once for the whole health thing and another with the realization of the tangent and secant. So if this was -x^2, a tangent would appear touching that curve, and with that tangent comes another tangent that touches both the initial tangent and the function at hand. Yes, I’m rather fucked up – sorry for the expletive.

When I put my plans on the table and created the spreadsheets, I decided to clean my room a bit. Yes, clean. I’m a nocturnal cleaner… Or maybe it was because of the Rockstar Energy Drink I “beasted” down. Meh, whatever the reason, I cleared out the closet of all clothing that was not mine. Surprisingly, I own very little clothing from what one would assume at first looking at my closet. It is now very clean, and I plan to keep it that way.

A funny thing about cleaning a room is the idea of making it messy at first. Essentially, to get rid of entropy requires more entropy only in decreasing degrees of entropy. So I have my closet full of, say, n different categories of items. I thus begin to throw all the n categories into a relatively clean room – outside of my closet. This increases the entropy of the room in general and decreases the entropy of the closet specifically. Now, I begin sorting the one mess into two different messes. Now there are two categories. It begins branching out until I have many, many different micro-messes (the same idea as micro-climates and the like). What does this mean, you ask? Well, it means I suck and am rather inefficient in cleaning rooms. So at this moment, I have several small messes that, when viewing the room as a whole, still looks like a messy room.

That was a long post… But that’s not the point, my room is still a mess – and by effect so is my life.

I’d much like to organize both.
